While studying a Bachelor of Construction Management at the University of Technology, Sydney I joined John Holland as a graduate engineer. I progressed to project engineer, focusing on delivery of finishes and façade for clients in education and defence.
I then joined Lendlease where I continued to develop a strong understanding of procurement and stakeholder management through delivery of tenancy fit-outs for a large retail development.
Moving to Laing O’Rourke I began work on the tallest commercial tower at the time, 100 Mount Street in North Sydney. I managed every component of the finishes packages; from procurement, through to delivery, defect management, project completion and handover.
Promoted to senior project engineer I delivered two additional tertiary education projects before joining Australia’s biggest public transport project at Central Station where I managed the front and back of house works to the Metro Box.
As a Construction Manager nearing completion on Central Station Main Works, I decided on a career change. I wanted a greater sense of ownership and responsibility, something to call my own and to work alongside a like-minded, ambitious, and creative business partner.

I graduated from the University of Western Sydney with First Class Honours in a Bachelor of Psychology. I then founded ‘Gardens by Chris’. I was a sole-trader providing landscaping, lawn and garden maintenance services to premium clients throughout the Inner-West.
Over several years I focused on developing my skill-set as a business owner. I managed my lead generation, conversion and retention, quoting, scheduling, supply and installation, equipment upkeep, accounting and arrears.
I learnt how to develop trust with my clients by providing a relentlessly consistent service. This allowed me to develop a schedule over consecutive seasons. The length and ease of these relationships benefited my business and my clients.
Focusing on sustainable growth, I navigated 3 consecutive years of la niña summers and 3 months of COVID lockdowns. As I prioritised long-term clientele I was able to continue operating despite the complicated conditions.
Having achieved my professional goals with my business I wanted a new challenge. I had a desire to build something with a business partner I could rely on and whose goals and values aligned with my own.
